PC and Windows XP Introduction

Course Overview and Purpose

This course is an introduction to the world of computers and to Windows XP. In this course students will learn how to use the basic hardware components of a computer system, and become familiar with the Windows XP user interface. The student will be introduced to some of the more common computer terminology and the Windows XP user interface. The course focuses on basic Windows screens and functions and includes an introduction to preparing disks, creating a system of folders and subfolders for file storage, file-naming conventions, and the basic commands used to duplicate files for safekeeping. Students will also be given a basic introduction to different types of application software such as word processing and spreadsheets and how to customize Windows XP for easier use.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course. Some typing is required so familiarity with the computer keyboard is an asset.
